1 Collection

Collect the dry seed capsules as they begin to open. A paper bag helps catch the small dark seeds as the capsules release them.
2 Processing and storage
Processing
Allow the capsules to finish drying in a paper bag, then separate the seeds from the dried plant material.
Storage
Store clean, dry seed in a cool, dry place if it will not be sown immediately.
3 Cold treatment
Working placeholder: provide a cold, moist period before spring sowing unless fresh outdoor fall sowing is used.
4 Planting
Sow outdoors in fall or lightly cover seed in spring after cold treatment. Avoid burying the seed deeply.
